Shark is composite high-performance UL tandem low-wing, optimized for long cross-country flights with cruise speed above 250 km/hour. Shark will be offered in two versions - European UL with retractable gear and simpler 600kg LSA with bigger wing.
ADVANCED AERODYNAMIC CONCEPT
To achieve a minimum aerodynamic drag the Shark uses a proprietary airfoil, optimized for fast cross-country flights, developed specially for SHARK by an aerodynamicist who designed a famous military turboprop trainers. The smoothly streamlined, aerodynamically efficient fuselage and aerodynamic surfaces with the elliptical outer leading edges are created by professionals with a lot of experiences from well-known Czech aircraft producers – to be as good as possible.
CONTINUITY OF THE DESIGN
The Shark project is based on the successful collaboration between Gryf design and COMP-LET in the MD-3 Rider aircraft development - and is its logical continuation: - combine producer long-time experience with composites and design team know-how gained during the great number of designs - from ultralights and sailplanes to GA airplanes and commuters, flying in thousands worldwide.
COMFORTABLE ROOMY COCKPIT
- with adjustable seats and the EFIS/EMS instrumentation keeps the crew perfectly aware of the flight and of the engine performance. Simply put - everything is optimized for the crew comfort during long cruise flights – even the rests for hands on the fighter-like throttle (left) and on the side-stick (right). Interior styling is created by Peťo Zelman and Ivan Adamčík from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Bratislava.
TECHNOLOGY AND QUALITY
Advanced composite structure is built of a glass/carbon epoxy composite. Various structural components are made of different materials according to their properties to give the parts the best ratio between the weight and strength, stiffness and safety.
Aircraft will be produced at modern facilities of the COMP-LET company, Senica, Slovakia. The COMP-LET is one of the biggest European producer of composite parts for light airplanes. Company with 200 qualified employees has a lot of experience in composite structures’ mass production due to its 16-year-long career as a proven supplier of famous aircraft manufacturers like the Diamond Aircraft (DA-40, DA-42, SuperDimona, Katana), the Aerospool (Dynamic), the FlySynthesis (Texan, Wallaby), the Aeropro (Eurofox), the FK-Leichtflugzeuge (Polaris) etc.
Production standards are approved by EASA and the national CAA. We believe that this is an undisputed guarantee of quality of the final product for our customers.

22 April 2007
This year´s AERO took place on 19th - 22nd April. Now more experienced, we attended it already for the second time as exhibitor. AERO is Europe´s key event for aviation industry. Our main target was to introduce our new project - first COMP-LET´s airplane SHARK and find for it suppliers and dealers. We also introduced great part of our serial production (composite airplane parts and airplane fuselages) and fascinating design study Aeromobil from slovak designer Štefan Klein.

Recognize that tail? You've seen it twice before on designs that earned Special Light-Sport Aircraft approval: Interplane's Skyboy and FlyItalia's Sport Rider. Designer Jaro Dostal's signature is the shark fin vertical stabilizer. Skyboy is sold in the U.S. by LSA America. SportRider (MD-3 Rider in Europe) is not presently available in the USA. *** Now from the fertile mind of Dostal comes the Shark. It will be produced by Comp-Let, a producer of composite parts for many companies including Diamond, Aeropro, and FK Lightplanes. Jaro's design bureau is leading the development effort...
